William Davidson's grandson Bill on buying his Harley-Davidson motorcycle

Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to summer. Labor Day weekend, is the unofficial end, and this summer will go out with a rumble.

Harley-Davidson is celebrating its 115th anniversary. Our Vince Vitrano sat down for an exclusive interview with Bill Davidson. He’s the great-grandson of co-founder William A. Davidson, but it turns out, he buys his motorcycles, just like anyone else. Here’s his exchange with Vince:

BILL: I am a brand new, proud owner, of a 115th anniversary fatboy.

VINCE: How does that work then? Do you just, go in somewhere, and say, I'll have that one and take off? You know… that one there is mine, or this one's mine? Or do you go into the dealership and talk to your guy? What do I have to do to get you into one of these bikes today?

BILL: It's fun. It really is fun. The thing that I'm so emotionally connected to this great company and this brand, like our customers, so I'm doing research online. I'm reading articles. I might know a little bit more, but I'm still doing the homework. And then I go to the dealership and it's the normal process. Which I'm very proud of. I want to be treated like a customer, because the advantage for me, being an employee, is I will absorb that experience and be able to input back to corporate, hey maybe we should think about this or this process was awesome.
