IRVINE, CA and MOUNT VERNON, IL – Waterkotte Harley-Davidson in Mount Vernon has been sold to Rodney Cabaness and renamed Roadhouse Harley-Davidson. Irvine, CA-based Performance Brokerage Services handled the transaction.
This is the third owner for the Mount Vernon dealership in 17 years.
Gary Surdyke acquired then-Dale’s Harley-Davidson from Dale Walksler in 2000 and operated the dealership for several years afterward. “Gary and Linda Surdyke have 10 children, all of which grew up in the Harley-Davidson business. As an attempt to pass the business onto their children, Gary offered the dealership to his daughter, Rebecca, and her husband, Matt Waterkotte, who changed the name to Waterkotte Harley-Davidson in 2014,” the brokerage firm explained.
Surdyke contacted Performance Brokerage Services’ George Chaconas “to help my daughter and son-in-law sell Waterkotte Harley-Davidson,” he said. “It was a very complicated and difficult transaction, and I want to thank George for his perseverance, professionalism and commitment to seeing the deal through to closing.”
Cabaness also owns and operates Black Diamond Harley-Davidson, 40 miles away from Mount Vernon, in Marion, IL. Roadhouse Harley-Davidson will remain at its current location at 205 N 44th St. in Mount Vernon.
“It was a pleasure working with the Surdyke and Waterkotte families, and I wish them luck on their future business endeavors,” Chaconas said. “I wish Rodney Cabaness much success with his strategic acquisition.”
