Gresham man arrested, names of the victims not immediately released in Saturday afternoon crash on US-26 just east of Rhododendron.
A Gresham man faces manslaughter, DUII and assualt charges after he crashed into his van into a motorcycle Saturday night on US-26 just east of Rhododendron.
The 71-year-old Harley Davidson driver was killed and the 70-year-old female passenger was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel for treatment of serious injuries. Their names were not immediately released.
The driver of the van is identied as Robert E. Walsh, 54, of Gresham. He is charged with Manslaughter II, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and Assault II.
According to the Oregon State Police, Walsh was Chrysler Town & Country van on US-26 when he crossed into the oncoming lane on a curve and slammed into the Harley around 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 13.
Officials said the Harley riders had helmets on at the time of the crash. Their names have not yet been released.
OSP was assisted by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, multi-agency CRAFT Team, Hoodland Fire Department, and Oregon Department of Transportation.
