LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) — The Linn County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release, Saturday, the driver of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was killed following a crash with a van near Springville, Saturday afternoon.
Authorities said the two vehicles collided around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 151 and Alderman Road.
“Responders arrived to find that a Chrysler Town and Country Van was northbound on Alderman Road,” said Sgt. David Omar in the release, “and while crossing Highway 151 struck a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle that was southbound on Highway 151.”
Authorities said the driver of the van, James Vratney, 56, Anamosa, was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and walked away uninjured.
“The person killed was the only rider on the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision,” said Omar. “The collision remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.”
A motorcyclist is feared to have suffered injuries after a crash near Springville, Saturday afternoon.
It happened around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 151 and Alderman Road. Authorities have yet to confirm the details, but witnesses told TV9 the crash appeared to involve a van and a motorcycle.
The van sustained front-end damage. One witness said the motorcycle ended up wrapped around a stop sign. She said she could see someone performing CPR on the bike’s operator before emergency crews arrived on scene.
