Tyrone Township man killed in motorcycle crash

A 52-year-old Tyrone Township man was killed early Thursday morning in a motorcycle crash.

On Thursday, Aug. 29 at approximately 12:50 a.m., Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a personal injury crash involving a motorcycle on White Lake Road near Forest Hills Drive in Tyrone Township.

Sheriff Mike Murphy said the preliminary investigation has revealed that a 52-year-old Tyrone Township man, John Ely, was traveling east on White Lake Road on a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when his motorcycle veered off the right side of the roadway. The motorcycle re-entered the roadway and overturned on the roadway.

Ely was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Livingston County EMS.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash; however, alcohol use is being investigated.

Deputies were assisted on scene by the Fenton Fire Department and Livingston County Ambulance.
