By their definition, motorcycles are generally meant for only one rider. Yet riding for two has been a popular trend ever since the biker culture started. It’s obvious how some couples love sharing a bike ride, especially in some motorcycle clubs, and developers have been paying attention. With bikes used more for long-range touring, manufacturers have set about crafting motorcycles specifically designed to carry a passenger or cargo space along with a lone rider.

Obviously, not all bikes are equal in this regard. For one thing, it means sacrificing some speed for the safety of an extra person and compensating for added weight on the road. Yet it’s amazing how several regular motorcycles (not scooters) can provide better rides than single-rider bikes. Here are ten of the best motorcycles for carrying an extra person and proving some rides are better built for two.

10 Kawasaki Concours

Anything by Kawasaki means speed combined with fantastic style. The Concours continues that trend as the 1352cc can get 100 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 155 mph. The large frame helps the passenger seat even more comfortable than the driver and plenty of storage space.

Despite its size the Concours handles the road in tight turns to make it an excellent long-range ride for any couple.

9 Ural Gear Up

Okay, it may seem a cheat to include a bike with a sidecar. Yet the Ural Gear Up has an old-world charm that majorly appeals. Despite its nearly 1300 pound weight, the Ural can offer a 749.0 ccm for 40 hp and a top 75 mph speed, which is good for touring.

It’s the sidecar that stands out as quite comfortable for both passenger and driver and handy for those who want to take a dog on the road. For those wanting a smoother ride, the Ural can be an offbeat but fun choice.

The tech is the best around with smart key, electric luggage locks, plenty of storage space, and charging with Bluetooth tech available There’s also heated seats to help on cooler rides and being able to cruise at 75 mph in fifth gear shows it’s a real Star among touring bikes.

6 Triumph Bonneville T120

The classic British bike has seen a few shifts, but this remains one of its best offerings. The Triumph Bonneville T120 almost needs a passenger to get the best out of the performance of its unique frame.

The 1200 cc parallel-twin 8-valve offers a smooth and steady ride, and the accessory choices make it a top choice for modding. It also has that lovely British style to stand out from the pack as a classy twofer ride.

5 Honda NC750X

For a smooth ride for two, the Honda NC750X is one of the best out there. The clutchless DCT transmission guarantees a good performance married to a four-stroke 745cc parallel-twin engine, which can get up to 122 mph.

It may seem lower on the torque, but the handling and transmission aid its exceptional performance with a comfortable back seat for an underrated two-handler ride.

There can be a debate between this and the Sport, but the Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic lives up to its name as a beautiful touring bike for two. The ample space offers plenty of room for another passenger and a cargo box if need be.

It’s also a Harley, which automatically gives it some importance. The 1746 cc Milwaukee V-8 can get close to 100 mph but it’s that fun style that makes this a great touring bike for two.

3 Suzuki V-Strom 650

It may be advertised as an “adventure bike,” but the Suzuki V-Strom 650 also provides some fun comfort for a passenger. A regular V-Strom can be equipped with a passenger seat, which puts them a bit higher than the driver yet focuses on a comfortable ride.

It helps that this is a bike with a 645cc, 90-degree, V-twin engine capable of up to 125 mph. This bike can handle muddy trails and the open highway and is good for a couple who prefers a little off-roading.

Yet it’s still comfortable enough for a passenger to hang on without getting thrown off and the storage space excellent as well. This is a monster machine for any pair of speed lovers.

1 Honda Gold Wing

Since 1975, the Honda Gold Wing has been a stellar touring bike, and each model just enhances it. The 1833cc six-cylinder can provide almost 80 hp for a top speed close to 140 mph. The handling is terrific, and the large seat perfect for an extra passenger.
