Townsend woman dies after motorcycle crash near Smyrna

A Townsend woman involved in a motorcycle crash last week has died, Delaware State Police said Monday.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on August 12, a Harley Davidson was traveling east on Lighthouse Road, signaled a left turn into the Boondocks Restaurant’s east Smyrna parking lot and slowed, police said.

A Honda motor tricycle was behind and struck the rear of the Harley, police said.

The drivers of the two vehicles were both ejected and hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Carolyn Gamble, 76, was a passenger on the Honda, was wearing a helmet but died Friday, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
