STURGIS S.D. (KOTA TV) – When people think of the Sturgis rally- they think motorcycles and Al Rieman of Black Hills Harley-Davidson says they are prepared to host every single visitor– hiring more than 500 employees just for the week of the rally.
“This rally promises to be even bigger than last year and we’re on a trend of increasing attendants and have been since 2015. It dropped off in ’16, it was up in ’17 and we expect it to be up considerable in ’18. So it’s going to be a well attended rally,” says Al Reiman the president of Black Hills Harley-Davidson.
Jambonz is a local Cajun restaurant down the road from downtown. The kitchen manager has been with the company for 5 years and is surprised how the rally has grown in recent years.
“We get people coming in as soon as we open, we’re busy all day. Nights are busier than days. We get a lot of bike traffic, we get a lot of foot traffic coming back and forth,” says Krissie Traversie the kitchen manager of Jambonz.
Locals tell us that they are preparing to take on the rally by using back-roads to any destination.
