A man was injured after he lost control of his motorcycle near Hennessey on Saturday afternoon.

Paul Damon Lamle, 56, of Tyler, Texas, was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle with a group of motorcycles eastbound on Oklahoma 51, about 6 miles west of Hennessey.

At around 12:35 p.m., the lead motorcycle, a 2003 Harley driven by Michael E. Dobrinski, of Okeene, slowed for a funeral procession, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

Lamle attempted to slow, too, but overcompensated on the front brake, losing control of the vehicle, according to OHP. The motorcycle then rolled one-quarter time onto its left side and slid along the road, departing right and rolled unknown times before coming to rest. Lamle separated from the motorcycle and also slid along the highway, then coming to rest and walking to the ditch.

He was transported to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid, where he was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk-internal and -external, and arm injuries.

Dobrinski was not injured.

OHP listed the cause of the collision as following too closely, and reported both drivers in apparently normal condition. Neither driver was wearing a helmet.
