STURGIS – Sturgis is hoping to tap into the success seen by Rapid City and Spearfish when it comes to weekly community gatherings in a downtown location.
City Manager Daniel Ainslie says this new event, dubbed “Music on Main,” will add culture and community to Sturgis.
Ainslie says the Sturgis downtown is an exceptional location for the event, especially with the reconstruction of Main Street almost complete and the stage located on Harley-Davidson Way at Rally Point.
Ainslie says this type of event is modeled after Downtown Friday Nights in Spearfish and Summer Nights in Rapid City.
The Wednesday night events will require the closure of Second Street to establish an area for activities and family entertainment on the public.
“Located on the corner of Main Street and Harley-Davidson Way, the stage is ideally placed downtown so you can enjoy music, food, free activities and all the shopping legendary Sturgis Main Street has to offer,” says Sturgis Rally & Events Director Jerry Cole.
In addition to the concerts, every week at 6 p.m. there will be a Mountain Bike Race, hosted by Xtreme Dakota Bicycles, that will start and end at Rally Point.
