Shelby County man killed when motorcycle hits deer


A Shelby County man died Sunday evening when his motorcycle hit a deer and left the roadway.

James Lee Bean, a 38-year-old from Maylene, was dead at the scene on Alabama 22 in Coosa County, state troopers said in a news release.

Bean was driving a 2017 Harley Davidson when the wreck happened just west of Alabama 9 near Rockford, troopers said.

Further details haven’t been released. The investigation is ongoing.
