Sebeka woman airlifted for serious injuries in Wadena motorcycle crash

SEBEKA — A Sebeka woman was airlifted after a motorcycle crash the evening of Thursday, Oct. 17, on Wadena County Highway 12.

At 8:28 p.m., Thursday, the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received notification of a motorcycle crash with injuries on County Highway 12, about 1 mile east of Sebeka. The operator of the Harley Davidson motorcycle, Paul Gentz, 70, and his passenger, Renae Rolfshus, 63, both of Sebeka, were riding westbound from Nimrod.

County Highway 12 is undergoing road construction at this time. Gentz told responders he was driving 40 mph when he found they were driving on dirt. He attempted to cross over to the eastbound land and struck an uneven layer of pavement, losing control of the motorcycle.

Gentz and Rolfshus were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Rolfshus was transported to Tri-County Healthcare and later airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital for unspecified head trauma and serious injuries. Gentz suffered cuts and abrasions and declined further medical treatment.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Sebeka Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, Sebeka First Responders and Tri-County Ambulance.
