BATAVIA — As Jeremy Higgins, a motorcycle racer with ties to Western New York and Rochester, recovering from injuries from a racing accident a month ago, Stan’s Harley-Davidson, 4425 W. Saile Dr,, is hosting a benefit Saturday.
The benefit, called “Western New York Dealers United for Jeremy,” will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and basket raffle. Also participating Saturday will be Harv’s Harley Davidson of Macedon, Performance Harley-Davidson, Enterprise Harley Davidson, Cycle Stop and Gowanda Harley-Davidson.
For more information, contact Bob Dell at (585) 794-9091 and James Liles at (585) 813-1482.
Higgins, while racing Sept. 2 in Springfield, Ill., suffered several injuries, including broken bones and swelling of the brain. The swelling required emergency surgery. He and his wife, Amber, will need to stay at a Springfield Hospital for several weeks before coming back home. With a lengthy rehabilitation and recovery, he will not be able to return for some time, benefit organizers say.
“We are attempting to raise as much money as possible to help offset the cost of the necessary medical bills to help Jeremy get back to good health,” they said.
Any type of donation or any items that may be raffled off will be appreciated. All proceeds will go directly to Jeremy and Amber Higgins.
“The end goal is to help aid Jeremy as much as we possibly can. No matter the size of the gift or donation, everything helps to aid our friend in his recovery,” organizers said. “Jeremy is one of the hardest-working, most dedicated and kindest racers that most of us have ever known, so now it’s our turn to support him in this time of need.”
