The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single motorcycle crash resulting in one fatality that occurred on Highway 96 Sunday evening, approximately 2 miles west of Boone.

According to a report from CSP Trooper Art Gumke, a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on Highway 96 when the rider lost control of the vehicle and it went onto its right side. The Harley-Davidson continued westbound on its right side and ejected the rider.

After being ejected, the rider continued westbound and collided with a guardrail post. After impact, the rider continued westbound, coming to rest on the right hand shoulder of the road.

Augustine Garcia, 51, of Pueblo, the driver of the motorcycle, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was pronounced deceased by the Pueblo County Coroner.

At this time, alcohol and drug use are not suspected, but exceeding the speed limit is a contributing factor to the crash.
