Carwyn Whararangi Hikaka died after crashing his motorcycle in central New Plymouth on Sunday.
Police have released the name of a man who died after crashing his motorbike in central New Plymouth on Sunday morning.
Carwyn Whararangi Hikaka, of New Plymouth, died in Taranaki Base Hospital after the motorbike he was riding crashed into a power pole on Carrington St.
“Police extend their deepest sympathies to the family during this difficult time,” a police spokesperson said in a media release.
The impact of the crash dislodged the front wheel of the 49-year-old’s Harley Davidson motorbike.
Following the crash two women performed CPR on Hikaka until an ambulance arrived.
He later died at Taranaki Base Hospital.
The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene and investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
Hikaka is the 13th person to die on Taranaki roads this year.
