Our three picks 9/22/2017

1. But can they go down the slides? Doggie Splash Day is back. Adventure Cove, the city of Abilene aquatic park, is closed for the year but it will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. More of a dog day morning. Cost is $ 3 per dog, but their people friends are free. Dogs must behave themselves.

2. Revving the sound of freedom. Saturday is Fall Freedom Fest at Kent’s Harley-Davidson, 3106 S. Clack St. Besides getting a good look at the 2018 models and maybe a demo ride, there will be live music by Rear Naked Choke from noon to 3 p.m. Food trucks will be on site

3. A new chapter for Abilene. The 17th annual West Texas Book Festival hits its stride Friday and Saturday, with author presentations and Saturday’s author luncheon, at which the librarian of the year award will be announced.
