Ocean Shores Motorcyclist Injured in Crash Near Mossyrock


An Ocean Shores motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday morning after she reportedly rear-ended another motorcycle on U.S. Highway 12 near Mossyrock.

The crash was reported at 11:19 a.m. Sunday at about milepost 83 of U.S. Highway 12, 2 miles west of Mossyrock, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.

Sheila G. Short, 52, of Ocean Shores, was reportedly riding west on the highway on a 1992 Harley Davidson behind a second motorcycle, a 1998 Harley Davidson ridden by Bruce E. Bratton, 66, of Quilcene.

The second motorcycle slowed to take a left turn onto Village Road and was hit from behind by Short, according to the State Patrol.

Both bikers were ejected from their vehicles. Short was seriously injured and transported by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Bratton was injured but not transported to a hospital.

The crash was caused by inattention, according to the State Patrol. Short was cited for following too close.
