News in brief: Camera Club meeting, College Student Suit Drive, African Folktales

Camera Club meeting

PETERSBURG — The Cockade City Camera Club will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Petersburg Area Art League, located at 7 E. Old St. Anyone with an interest in photography is invited to attend the club’s monthly meetings. 

The February guest presenter will be professional photographer Nicole Maurer. Her program is titled “Shoot Well, Edit Less.”

The club offers free classes: Beginner/Novice, Intermediate and Digital SLR.

College Student Suit Drive

PRINCE GEORGE — Buffalo Soldiers MC (Motorcycle Club) of VA and Colonial Harley Davidson is holding a College Student Suit Drive. The public is asked to donate new or gently used suits. Donations will be given to graduating seniors at Richard Bland College and Virginia State University.

Collection boxes are located at Colonial Harley Davidson, 1701 Temple Parkway. The drive will continue through April 30.

African Folktales

CHESTERFIELD — The Chesterfield County Public Library will host its final “African Folktales” program on Saturday, 1:30 to 2:15 p.m., at the Enon Library, 1801 Enon Church Road, Chester. Local actress and storyteller Charmaine Crowell-White will share traditional African and African American folktales, including the story of High John the Trickster. Registration is required.
