Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Highway 31 Construction Zone

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — The driver of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was injured after a man backing out of his driveway on S. Green Bay Rd. collided with him in the construction zone.

On Saturday night, just after 9 p.m., Mt. Pleasant police were dispatched to a vehicle accident with injuries on the 900 block of S. Green Bay Road involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Upon arrival at the scene, Officers found glass debris in the northbound lane of the road, along with a
severely damaged Harley Davidson motorcycle in the median at that location.

The injured operator of the motorcycle was located in the median strip near the downed motorcycle. South Shore Fire and Rescue service also responded, beginning to treat the injured motorcycle operator.

Police investigating the incident determined that a silver Toyota operated Luis Murillo, 37, Racine, was backing out
of a driveway in the 900 block of S. Green Bay Road, into the northbound traffic lane.

As Murillo backed out, the motorcycle driver, Brian Warren, 25, Racine, was traveling in the northbound lane, and struck the rear of the silver toyota driven by Murillo. Warren was subsequently injured from the impact, ejected from the motorcycle, coming to rest in the median area near the downed motorcycle.

Warren was transported by the South Shore Fire Department to All Saints emergency room for non- life threatening injuries, and later transferred to Froedtert Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa.

A 29 year old female passenger in the Toyota was also transported to All Saints with minor injuries.

Murillo was cited by Officers for Unsafe backing of a vehicle onto a highway. Warren was cited for Operating a motorized vehicle while under the influence, causing injury.
