A North Fort Myers man and a Canadian woman were killed and another person seriously hurt Saturday night in a motorcycle-pedestrian crash on U.S. 41.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Roger Miller, 49, was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on 41 approaching Leisure Lane shortly after 6 p.m.

Pauline Griffiths, 70, of Ontario, Canada, was trying to cross the northbound lanes of 41 and was hit by Miller’s motorcycle.

Miller and Griffiths died at the scene. A passenger on Miller’s motorcycle, Amy Melick, 49, of North Fort Myers, was seriously hurt and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Neither Miller nor Melick was wearing a helmet, the FHP reported.

The FHP is investigating the crash.

According to reports, the fatalities are the sixth and seventh traffic deaths in Lee County in 2019.
