Motorcyclist killed, passenger seriously injured in St. Pete crash


PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Police said a 63-year-old Treasure Island man died Saturday night when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a guardrail.  His 54-year-old passenger was left in serious condition.

The incident occurred in the 400 block of Park Street South in St. Petersburg around 11 p.m. 

According to police, Michael Edward Hughes was operating a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle, heading southbound on Park Street when he lost control of the bike at a curve and hit the guardrail. His passenger, Deanna Dora McDorman, also of Treasure Island was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. 

Hughes was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.

McDorman was rushed to Bayfront Health St. Pete where she's listed in serious condition, police said.

No further details are immediately available.
