Motorcyclist killed after hit-and-run Saturday on U.S. 281


Gilberto Plaza, 50, was killed after a pickup truck struck his motorcycle on the North Side this past weekend, according to San Antonio police.

Police said Plaza may have been sitting on his Harley Davidson or beside it when the incident occurred just after 10 p.m. Saturday in the 12000 block on U.S. 281, not far from Stone Oak Parkway.

According to police, Plaza was on the right shoulder of Southbound 281 when the driver of a dark-colored pickup truck veered into the shoulder and struck Plaza.

The driver of the pickup truck failed to stop and render aid following the crash, police said.

The San Antonio Fire Department pronounced Plaza dead at the scene.
