OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. — A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a crash in Ottawa County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
OHP said the crash happened Sunday afternoon on the Will Rogers Turnpike (I-44), about 4 miles west of Miami.
Around 5:00 p.m., a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle was westbound on the inside lane of Will Rogers Turnpike. A leather jacket became entangled in the rear wheel and belt drive of the motorcycle, causing the driver to lose control. The motorcycle overturned onto its side and came to rest in the outside lane.
OHP said the driver, whose name is currently withheld, was taken to a hospital in Joplin, Missouri, in critical condition with head and internal torso injuries.
OHP also said a helmet was not in use.
