The driver of a 1976 Harley Davidson motorcycle was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition after crashing into a car Saturday afternoon.
Police say the 62-year-old motorcyclist was heading northbound on the Interstate 17 off-ramp approaching Peoria Avenue when he drove through a red light and crashed into a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze that was traveling east around 2:31 p.m.
Officials say the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and didn’t know why he didn’t stop, but said it was possible the motorcycle’s brakes had failed. Police evaluated the other driver, a 53-year-old man, and determined he was not impaired.
The investigation remains ongoing.
