CHP-Riverside Area units and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at around 4:50 pm after being informed that a motorcycle had collided with the rider on the road.

When officials arrived, they found a blue 2016 Harley-Davidson Road Glide to the left of it, blocking the roadway. The downed rider turned out to be unresponsive nearby.

Authorities determined that the rider was injured and died on the scene.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner then identified 51-year-old Riverside Derek Escalsega as the man killed in the crash. The release of the coroner indicated that he had been sentenced to death at 4:58 pm

Preliminary research by the CHP suggests that Escal Sega was driving Harley-Davidson on the SR-60 eastward and westward on the SR-91 transition road at undecided high speeds shortly before the accident. ..

“For reasons still under investigation, Harley-Davidson riders couldn’t negotiate a turn on the road, Harley-Davidson collided with a guardrail, and the rider was kicked out of the road,” CHP said.

This is an aggressive investigation and witnesses who may have observed a fatal accident are advised to call the California Highway Patrol Accident Investigation Unit (951) 637-8000. The caller can see the incident file number and remain anonymous.
