With the warmer weather finally here, motorcyclists are excited to get back on the bike. The start of May also marks Motorcycle Awareness Month.
Bikers are asking drivers to “look twice; save a life”. Studies show the majority of motorcycle and vehicle-related accidents are due to distracted driving.
Laurie Thompson, General Manager Harley-Davidson of Erie, says, “The biggest thing we hear when there’s an accident between a bike and a vehicle is… ‘I just didn’t see them! They just were there!’ So if you could, please just pay attention.”
Harley-Davidson says it’s also important for bikers to wear their safety equipment, like leather, jeans, and proper boots. Also, although Pennsylvania is a ‘choice’ state, wearing a helmet will protect the head and brain in the event of a crash.
