Driving too fast for conditions, a motorcycle rider crashed Sunday afternoon on Highway 1 near Fort Bragg after losing control on a sharp curve, according to the CHP.
Terry Towne, 62, of Fort Bragg and his three‑wheeled Harley Davidson bike landed in a shallow pool of water after flipping and sliding off the edge of the highway. It wasn’t clear how fast Towne was traveling but as he came into the curve, he lost control of his bike, causing it to overturn, the CHP said.
The crash was reported at 1 p.m. Towne suffered major injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Fort Bragg hospital then transferred to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
The rider was wearing a helmet, and drugs or alcohol weren’t factors in the crash, the CHP said.
