AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Over 100 motorcycle riders hit the open road today for sick children.
The Youngstown Harley Owners group kicked off their 9th Annual Fun Ride and Poker Run at Harley Davidson BikeTown at 12 p.m.
Ahead of them was a 90-mile scenic route through the Valley ending in Columbiana County.
All of the money raised from Sunday's event will go to a specific fund at the Mahoning Valley Campuses of Akron Children's. It helps cover the costs of treatment for families who can't afford medical care.
Bikers are known for being tough but an organizer of the event James Rodgers said the riders have big hearts when it comes to kids in need.
"It goes hand-in-hand. What we're doing is we're taking care of the future bikers of America. You got to raise them right. Bring them up from when they're little and they'll make good bikers."
