VERMILLION TOWNSHIP – An Ashland County crash involving two motorcycles sent two people to the hospital Saturday afternoon, one with serious injures, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Lise Minadeo, 53 years old, of Brecksville, was transported to Ashland Samaritan Hospital, before being transported via Med-Flight to Grant Hospital in Columbus on Saturday night. She was listed in critical condition.
James Rodes, 64, of Brooklyn was transported to Ashland Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the OSHP, the crash occurred at approximately 3:25 p.m. on State Route 60 near Township Road 585, approximately two miles south of Hayesville.
Minadeo was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on State Route 60. Rodes was operating a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle also north on State Route 60. Minadeo drove off the right side of the road, struck a traffic sign and was ejected from the motorcycle. Rodes lost control in the roadway and was ejected from the motorcycle.
The Patrol said she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Drugs and alcohol factors are unknown at this time.
Hayesville and Jeromesville Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. The Ohio Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control. State Route 60 was shut down and traffic was diverted for approximately 90 minutes. The crash remains under investigation.
