Morris man airlifted following motorcycle crash near Seneca

SENECA – A 49-year-old Morris man was severely injured following a motorcycle crash Sunday night near Seneca.

Charles E. Currens, 49, of Morris, was reportedly driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle around 6:45 p.m. Sunday east on Route 6 at a high rate of speed, passing several cars, when he lost control of the bike for unknown reasons, according to a news release from the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to an area on Route 6 near East 29th Road after he crashed. Currens was severely injured in the incident, the release stated.

He was initially transported via ambulance to Morris Hospital and Healthcare Centers in Morris, then airlifted to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

A representative for the hospital said Currens was in serious condition Monday morning.
