Man thrown from Harley, seriously injured on Saturday

A Schulykill County man suffered head injuries after losing control of his Harley Davidson motorcycle on a curve in North Union Township on Saturday evening.

Brian Leonard, 50, was flown to Geisinger Medical Center following the crash that happened about 7:40 p.m. on Millers Road, according to state police. Leonard, who lives in Zion Grove in Schuylkill County, was in serious condition on Sunday morning, according to a Geisinger nursing supervisor.

State police said Leonard, driving through a left curve, went off the right side of the road, eventually crossing a gravel driveway and striking a large boulder. The motorcycle flipped and Leonard, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, was thrown about 30 feet, according to a state police report.

State police said Leonard is charged with driving at an unsafe speed.
