Man killed in freak motorcycle crash outside of Nannup

A man has died after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit by a second rider near Nannup on Saturday afternoon.

At around 2.30pm, the 48-year-old man was riding a black 2015 model Harley Davidson motorcycle west along the Brockman Highway with a group of other motorcycle riders.

Around 5km east of Nannup, he lost control of his motorcycle.

It left the road and struck a tree stump, and both the man and the bike were propelled back onto the highway.

The bike came to a halt with the man still seated on it.

However, a second rider who was travelling on a blue 2015 model Harley Davidson then hit the stationary motorcycle at some speed.

Both men were thrown from their motorcycles.

The first rider received critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to Bridgetown Hospital by ambulance for assessment.

He was then airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital, but later died as a result of his injuries.

The second rider, a 45-year-old man, received minor injuries and was treated at Nannup Hospital.

Anyone who saw the crash or the motorcycles before the incident have been asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
