RICHMOND, Ind. — A Richmond man was injured Wednesday when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a guardrail.

John Davis, 56, was eastbound on South Q Street around 11:40 a.m. when he apparently drove his white Harley-Davidson motorcycle into some gravel near the side of a curve in the 1200 block of South Q Street and lost control, according to Richmond Police Department Lt. Donnie Benedict. The motorcycle struck a guardrail, then laid down on its right side and slid approximately 40 feet, leaving marks in the roadway.

Benedict said there was a witness to the accident.

Davis appeared to sustain a head injury, Benedict said, and was taken to Reid Health. A LifeLine medical helicopter met him at Reid to fly him to another regional hospital as a precautionary measure.

Once the motorcycle was righted, a set of keys and pennies were left lying in the road.

Bailey’s Towing loaded the motorcycle onto a flatbed to remove it from the scene.

The 1200 block of South Q Street was closed for about an hour for the accident cleanup and RPD investigation.
