A City of Tonawanda man was charged with felony drunken driving after crashing into a motorcycle Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Delaware and Syracuse streets.
The accident happened at 2 p.m., when 52-year-old John W. Orlowski of Dekalb Street was driving northbound on Delaware in his 2003 Ford. According to City of Tonawanda police, Orlowski’s vehicle struck the 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling eastbound on Syracuse.
The motorcyclist, Barry Best, 58, of Clinton Street, suffered broken ribs and a lower back injury and was transported to Erie County Medical Center and discharged.
Orlowski was charged with aggravated DWI, felony DWI, passing a red light and unsafe tires, police said. Both DWIs were felonies because Orlowski has a prior DWI conviction in 2008 in the Town of Tonawanda.
Police said Orlowski’s blood alcohol content was 0.18, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08. His bail was set at $ 5,000.
