Man Airlifted After SUV Strikes Motorcycle in Moore County

A man was airlifted to a hospital Friday after his motorcycle was struck by an SUV near the Harley-Davidson dealership in Eastwood.

The wreck was reported about 1 p.m. on U.S. 15-501. Witnesses say the victim, an employee of Cox’s Double Eagle Harley-Davidson, was waiting to turn into the dealership’s parking lot when he was hit by a woman traveling north in a Chevy SUV.

Police say the victim was thrown approximately 75 feet by the impact. He was later flown to the hospital by a UNC Air Care helicopter.

The extent of the man’s injuries is not known. His name has not been released by authorities. 

Traffic was snarled on the highway while first responders were at the scene. Agencies responding to the accident included the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County EMS, Highway Patrol, Pinehurst Fire Department and Eastwood Fire Department.
