SHREVEPORT, La – A local motorcycle dealership is pairing up with two women, putting together a one of a kind event to help Breast Cancer patients.
Two sisters, 37 states, 102 Harley Davidson dealerships and 17 individual charities coming together for Breast Cancer.
Rhonda Thompson, Co-Founder of For You We Ride says, “research and development is huge, but this event is about putting help into a patients hands right now.”
It’s called ‘For You We Ride’, and organizers picked Bossier City to make the big announcement.
“We had to chose a place, so it was our way of saying thank you for the support they have given us.
Gretchen Pierce, Marketing Manger-Events Coordinator for Harley Davidson Bossier City says, “Fun – I love doing stuff for the community, I can’t do it personally, but whenever I can do it at my job and everybody around can, and more that I can invite that’ll come to it, is the more people that we can get involved whether it’s now, later or next year.”
The national event raises money for Breast Cancer patients by supporting assistance charities that provide financial help to patients.
“Things we don’t think about being a really big deal, but to a patient, it helps relive some of their stress and lets them concentrate on healing,” said Thompson.
Rhonda Thompson and her sister Becca are putting this together in honor of their mom who lost her battle to Breast Cancer.
“It’s to remind people that breast cancer does not care the color of your skin, it doesn’t care who you voted for, it doesn’t care what religion you are. It doesn’t even care about your gender.”
And for Gretchen Pierce it hits close to home.
Gretchen Pierce says, “It kind of touches me at my heart because I know too many people that have died from breast cancer that could have had a better life or could of had something done for them.”
“For You We Ride” is attempting to break a world record with the biggest fundraiser for Breast Cancer.
The ride is September 22nd. Click here to sign up and participate.
