A Lehigh Acres man is facing hit-and-run charges following a two motorcycle crash that left one man with his foot nearly completely severed.
The Feb. 28 crash involved a 1993 Harley Davidson XL1200 and a 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic at Sunshine Boulevard North near 3rd Street.
A report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said deputies who responded found the driver of the second motorcycle still at the scene with severe leg injuries including multiple fractures and a foot that was all but severed. The second motorcycle had also hit a wooden telephone pole.
Both motorcycles were northbound on Sunshine at high speed, the report said, and near 3rd both ran off the roadway to the right, hit each other and separated with the second motorcycle hitting the pole.
The driver of the first motorcycle had fled the scene, the report said. Deputies found the driver, Michael Line, 36, at the emergency room of Gulf Coast Hospital where he had been taken after he left the crash scene, the report said.
Line was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and operating a motorcycle without a license. He was released on $50,500 bond and will be arraigned April 8.
