SHERMAN, Tex. (KXII) – A group in Sherman is raising money to renovate the Sherman Animal Shelter.
The Leadership Sherman Class of 2020 held a fundraiser Saturday for their class project at Texoma Harley-Davidson.
The program serves as a professional development opportunity where participants gain leadership skills to contribute to the community.
Tyson Foods donated burgers and the Sherman Animal Shelter provided $10 micro-chipping to help raise money.
The class says their goal is to raise $30,000 by the end of February.
Donald Fuller, a member of the class, says the money will go toward a much-needed renovation to help not only the shelter but to provide comfort for the animals.
“It ‘s a fantastic opportunity to give back to something that we feel is really needed, you know. The Sherman Animal Shelter is seeing a lot of growth right now so there’s a lot of opportunity to help,” Fuller said.
There are more fundraisers scheduled for February 5 at Cackle and Oink and a golf tournament scheduled at the Stone Creek County Club for Feb. 22 and Feb. 23.
