While Dubai Police is known to have fancy cars in their fleet, policemen in India are seen patrolling in Royal Enfields. But Kolkata Police has upped its game by inducting five Harley-Davidson bikes in their squad.
Kolkata Police has planned to use these high-end bikes during VIP visits and for ceremonial purposes. The bikes, bought two months ago, made their debut onto the streets on August 15 as a part of the Independence Day celebrations.
According to a NDTV report, the five Harley-Davidson Street 750s were brought by the Kolkata Police Department for Rs 5.5 lakh each. This addition was done because Street 750 is a lot quicker and faster than the trademark Royal Enfield bikes. The bikes will be used for chases considering it is fast.
“Why shouldn’t the Kolkata Police have the best?”, Rajeev Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Kolkata was quoted saying.
The police force might also include TVS Apache in their fleet.
