Kaiser man killed in fatal motorcycle crash Friday

A 53-year-old Kaiser, Mo., man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash Friday afternoon in Miller County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

A 53-year-old Kaiser, Mo., man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash Friday afternoon in Miller County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. 

On the afternoon of September 22, 2017, the Miller County Sheriff’s Office advised motorists that deputies were working a fatality accident and Route D had been temporarily closed for a few hours.

According to the MSHP report, Lester W. Hutcherson, 53, of Kaiser, was driving a 1990 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound at approximately 12:18 p.m. at 503 Route D when the vehicle struck a 2015 Ford F-650 being driven westbound by Robert K. Byrd, of Brumley, Mo. 

“Vehicle 1 (Ford) was attempting to make a left hand turn and failed to yield to vehicle 2 (Harley Davidson). Vehicle 2 struck vehicle 1 on it’s(sic) front passenger side,” according to the unofficial report summary. 

Hutcherson, listed as wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Miller County Coroner Tim Bradley at approximately 12:30 p.m. Hutcherson, not listed with a seat belt, did not have any reported injuries. 

The motorcycle was listed as totaled while the truck was listed with minor damage. MSHP was assisted by the Major Crash Investigation Unit. 

This was Troop F’s 7th fatality for September and the 40th overall for the year.
