Investigation continues into deadly motorcycle crash

SCIOTO TOWNSHIP — The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating why a Grove City motorcyclist went left of center Sunday on state Route 104, causing his Harley Davidson to sideswipe a pickup truck.

Twenty three-year-old Timothy C. Duchin of Grove City was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner, Dr. John Ellis.

According to Sergeant John Schleich with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 4:20 p.m. on state Route 104 between state Route 762 and Walker Road. Schleich said Duchin and three other motorcyclists were riding their bikes north on 104 when Duchin allegedly locked up his brakes and swerved left, hitting the side a southbound 2004 Chevrolet Colorado truck driven by Julie A. McKinley, 54, of Orient.

Duchin was not wearing a helmet.

Both lanes of 104 between 762 and 316 were closed for over four hours.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the scene from Commercial Point Police, the Circleville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Scioto Township Fire Department and Ohio Department of Transportation.
