Independence man airlifted after motorcycle wreck in Miller County

The report stated the 2003 Ultra Classic Harley Davidson failed to negotiate a right curve while northbound causing the motorcycle to go off the left side of the roadway and collide with the ground.

A biker from Independence, Mo. was airlifted to treatment following a crash in Miller County Saturday afternoon.

Charles A. Pettipiece, 47, suffered serious injuries in an accident on Highway 87 at Boulder Road around 1:50 p.m. Sept. 16, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. He was flown by the Staff for Life helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

Pettipiece was wearing a helmet, according to the report. The motorcycle was described as totaled.
