EAST BRIDGEWATER – An East Bridgewater construction worker will have the chance to compete for a 2017 Harley-Davidson Roadster motorcycle after winning a deck fastening competition last month.
Aaron Pinske, owner of Pinske Construction and Contracting in East Bridgewater, won an October qualifying round of the CAMO Screw Off! competition, held at the Cape Cod Lumber Company in Abington.
The preliminary competition pitted about 30 competitors against each other in a deck-building speed competition.
Contestants raced to screw in 6 regular screws and 6 CAMO fasteners as quickly as possible.
Pinske said he entered the competition on a whim and walked away the winner, completing the challenge in 46.97 seconds.
“It just so happened that I went (to the Cape Cod Lumber Company) for some stock for the day and they were setting up for the competition so I just moseyed on over,” Pinske said.
The competition is sponsored by CAMO Fasteners, a deck-fastening system that attaches virtually any wood, composite or PVC decking directly to the substructure, creating a fastener-free deck surface.
The win qualifies Pinske to compete against 64 other finalists from throughout New England and New Jersey in the CAMO Screw Off! competition finale, planned for February 2018 in Providence, Rhode Island.
“Everyone had a great time in the head-to-head competition,” said Chris Vaughan, inside sales manager at Cape Cod Lumber. “Plus, it gave us the opportunity to introduce CAMO Edge Fastening to anyone new to the system.”
