Hundreds turned out this past Saturday for the “Kruzin for Kersey” bike run benefit to help Scotland County Sheriff Ralph Kersey as he recovers from kidney cancer.

More than 40 people and different businesses helped to sponsor the event.

The bike run started at Rockingham on U.S. 1 North and ended at Cox’s Double Eagle Harley Davidson in Carthage.

The event also featured two music bands.

Kersey was diagnosed with kidney cancer back in May and had surgery last month.

Scotland County Chief Deputy Lloyd Goins will serve as acting sheriff while Kersey is out.
