Horry County, S.C. (WPDE) —
Horry County police are hoping to bridge the gap between the public and the police by hosting a series of town halls.
The meetings take place all over the county. On Tuesday, the location was Socastee.
Some who live in Horry County say they’re worried about reporting crimes, panhandling, and everything related to the opioid crisis.
“Opiates are just a huge problem and not only do we not have the manpower in Horry County to go and attack it. But we don’t have that manpower nationwide,” said Thomas Mansell, who lives in Socastee.
But, police say they want members of the community to feel comfortable calling them when crime happens.
To help with that mission, they’ve set up a tip line. The number for that is 843-915-8477(TIPS).
