Hesperia man dies after losing control of motorcycle on Maple Avenue

A motorcyclist died Monday night after he lost control while riding along Maple Avenue in Hesperia, according to sheriff’s officials.

The motorcyclist, described as a 34-year-old Hesperia man, was found by a Hesperia park ranger near a black 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle at 8:35 p.m. on Maple Avenue, near El Centro Street, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department news release.

The rider was not breathing, and first responders began CPR. The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died. His name was not immediately released.

Investigators determined the motorcycle was traveling north on Maple Avenue and, for reasons still under investigation, the rider lost control, was ejected and suffered major injuries, the news release stated. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the crash can contact Deputy Dustin Whitson or Deputy Scott Lafond at the Hesperia station at 760-947-1500.
