Police have charged a Sorrento man after he allegedly evaded police while riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle last night.

Officers were conducting patrols in Duncraig when they allegedly saw the motorcycle speeding on Marmion Avenue about 7.30pm.

Police allege they attempted to stop the 56-year-old rider, who “accelerated heavily away”.

“The rider then drove recklessly through the suburbs of Duncraig, Marmion and Carine for a short time,” it is alleged.

“As the bike turned on to Reid Highway in Carine, it mounted a kerb and became stuck in soft sand. This caused the rider to fall from the motorcycle, enabling police to apprehend him.”

The man has been charged with breaching bail, driver exceeding zero blood-alcohol content, no authority to drive, false plates, driving an unlicensed vehicle, aggravated reckless driving and failing to stop.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court today.
