PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Gresham man faces manslaughter and other charges after he crashed into a Harley Davidson motorcycle Saturday night on US-26, the Oregon State Police said.
Robert E. Walsh was driving a Chrysler van on US-26 when he crossed into the oncoming lane on a curve and slammed into the Harley around 6:15 p.m. just east of Rhododendron, authorities said. The 71-year-old Harley driver died at the scene and his 70-year-old woman passenger was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel for treatment of serious injuries.
Officials said the Harley riders had helmets on at the time of the crash. Their names have not yet been released.
Walsh, 54, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, DUII and assault.
