Una scrambler para la Harley-Davidson Street 750 desde GENT (Belgium) … ¿cómo la ves?
DUTCH HILLS HARLEY-DAVIDSON
Location: Kerkrade (The Netherlands)
Favourite bike: HD Road Glide
Dealer: Branco Deckers (since 2007)
Mechanic: Rigo Horbag
Why participate in the Battle of the Kings?
Rigo: “For the team building within the company itself, to put everyone behind a common goal. And to present yourself as a true Harley-Davidson dealer of course. Harley has made us really enthusiastic because they also customised some models in the past. It made us wonder if we could do this too, especially because you have to stick to a budget and a strict working schedule.”
Where did you get the inspiration?
Branco: “After much thought and consideration of all the different ideas, we chose the one which everybody fully supported. It’s a Dirt Tracker. Our base were the tires, we had to have something with thick, clunky tires. Because we already wanted to do something similar in the past, but because of lack of time we didn’t. So this was a great opportunity for the team.”
What did you change about the Street 750?
Rigo: “We thought about the colours forever, but it definitely had to be retro. In terms of sportsmanship and colours, we thought ‘Martini’ really was the best. It also makes the sale of this bike a little easier if it is something everybody knows or recognises. We’ve also trimmed the rear fender, placed special handles on the steering wheel and changed the front view completely.”
How much manpower and hours were necessary to build this bike?
Branco: “The customization is the work of only three men and they used the full 50 hours. But brainstorming happened with the whole crew of course. Everyone is very proud of the bike.”
What do you hope to achieve in this contest?
Branco: “We also want to win, but that’s just a part of our goal. To put our company behind this, so that new and younger clients get excited for this motorcycle.”
