Harley-Davidson’s updated Softail range has debuted in India. It comprises of four models, and starts with the Street Bob at Rs 11.99 lakhs and goes up to the Heritage Classic at Rs 18.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The 2018 Softail range is a major overhaul – there are a number of changes to the powertrain, suspension and chassis, and yes, they have new paint schemes as well. The biggest change is the change of heart: the range is now powered by the 1545cc twin-cylinder ‘Milwaukee-Eight 107’ engine, which is better in every way compared to the outgoing engines.
The Street Bob is now the entry-level model in the Softail Range. As mentioned before, it retails at Rs 11.99 lakhs, ex-showroom. Next up the ladder is the Fat Bob at Rs 13.99 lakhs, with its new upswept twin-pipe exhaust. The ever-popular Fat Boy is priced at Rs 17.49 lakhs, and yes, it retains iconic elements like the ‘disc wheel’. Finally, the Heritage Classic is priced at Rs 18.99 lakhs. It echoes the styling of 1950s Harleys but with modern touches like a removable windscreen, cruise control and water-resistant luggage.
